1) To find out if this is even what you want, go to www.ubuntu.com and then click on Desktop Edition.

2) Once you've looked at the site and decide you want to try it out, go to www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu

3) Click download ubuntu, choose a location and download.

4) Once it is downloaded, you need one more thing. This is a .iso file, which has to burned differently than a data CD

5) You need Infrarecorder for this: http://infrarecorder.sourceforge.net/?page_id=5

6) Install it like a normal program.

7) Go ahead and run if even though it might say it's not verified or whatever.

8) Then, go to Actions -> Burn Image Find the file ubuntu 8.04 – desktop - .i386 and click okay.

9) Once it is burned to a CD it should work.

10) Then you have to make some changes to your bios

11) Put the disk in the drive and then restart your computer. As it is restarting, press esc (for hp computers) or F12 (for dell computers) before the Windows screen comes up.

12) Go to System Setup -> Boot Sequence and then make IDE CD-ROM DEVICE first. Or something that has CD-ROM in it. It doesn't really matter what is 2 or 3 I don't think, but try to keep the order the same as it was, just that CD-ROM is now first. Then save and exit.

13)You might have to restart your computer again I'm not sure. But if you have to, make sure the disk is still in the drive.

14) Then, whenever the disk is in the cd drive, the computer will boot from the disk you've made. Once it boots, you can do stuff on it like install programs (but you need an internet connection to do that) and it doesn't do anything permanent to your computer.

15) When you're done trying it out, you can leave, and it'll pop the disk out, but of course anything you did would be erased.

16) If you want to install it, well, I'm not sure on this part, because I installed this before they came out with the Wubi installer.

17)Any questions post a comment and I'll do my best to answer them.

18) If anyone wants to install it, post a comment, and I'll do a second write up.

I just posted the song, "O Holy Night!" my dad and I did for the Christmas recital last year on the front page.  Go ahead and listen to it!

Hello!  Welcome to my brand new site.  I'm just getting started, so please bear with me as I add things and move things around.

My current WIPs are Treasurebound and Safe Haven, however, I have several other novels as well in various stages of completion.

I'm currently 19 years old and I've finished my first year of college.  Besides, writing sci-fi, I also enjoy reading, playing the piano, and listening to classical/piano rags music.
